The Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) is the minimum number of products a supplier is willing to sell a certain item. Ops provides a MOQ 300 pieces each model for custom made watches, of course the colorways can be different.
Precisely, the MOQ is mainly based on the watch model but not colors. The definition of model is the watch case design is same and with same size. For example, below watch model WM-71190 has 4 different color combinations but with same case design and diameter size 42mm, if you are going to order 300 pcs, then the quantity can be 75 each colorway.
So, MOQ is decided by the watch manufacturer and what it costs us to create something. It could be that the MOQ is our breakeven point. Meaning we would lose money running our machines for quantity less than 300.
Why there is a MOQ?
The main reason Ops requires MOQs is because we want to control the costs and provide an affordable way to create your own watch brand.
To do that we calculate every expense and come up with a number that can work for our customers. Sometimes we provide minimum order quantity of 1 unit for people with high potential to work with, and that doesn’t mean Ops is making money off their single unit sold but they’re willing to take on some loss to seek long term business relationship with any potential customers.
MOQ requirement is significant for both customers and us.
For customers a MOQ means there’s a lower barrier to entry and they don’t need to spend much money on inventory.
It also means that the customers can test the quality of the watches and reduce the risk of ordering a large number of watches if the we are not your right watch manufacturer.
You can move slower and make sure the supplier is great to work with before committing to a large order.
